Diversity Training

Increasing diversity within educational institutions and societies provides wonderful learning opportunities, as well as incredible challenges. We have an obligation to prepare our students better for their personal and professional lives by increasing their desire and ability to engage in a global society through the development of intercultural communication skills.

These training sessions work with a toolkit that has been created by non-profit organisation Crossing Borders Education (CBE). They have created a film trilogy with matching study materials. The films are ‘designed to initiate intercultural dialogues, practice communication skills, and to deepen intercultural understanding’ (http://crossingborders.education/films/).

The Art of Teaching

There is no denying that we live in a techno-social world. People are (technically) connected through various forms of social media and that changes the way our societies operate. And whether we like it or not, it also changes our classrooms and how students learn and gather information. In order for students to achieve the highest possible learning outcome, it is the teacher’s responsibility to create an environment where all individual students can develop and learn to the best of their ability. This requires more than being an expert in a certain academic field; it will also require didactic skills. The art of teaching sometimes seems to be lost or considered of less importance. This training will outline the importance of mastering the art of teaching and will explore ways of engaging your students so that they will be able to get the most out of your classes and lectures.
