Our Story

HIE (Haddington International Education) was founded when Noreen identified an opportunity to enhance student recruitment efforts by creating a local presence on behalf of a university in various regions globally. Having spent years living overseas, she understood the value of working on the ground to effectively manage a network locally.

By listening to universities and agencies locally, HIE has been able to develop strong partnerships on behalf of universities across much of the globe and continues to evolve with ever-changing markets and student needs.

Over the years, she has been joined by like-minded people who understand the importance of international education and HIE is now made up of consultants based in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Our goal is to provide high quality students to institutions to improve the internationalization of campuses and the overall study experience.

However, the core reason of why we do this is to enable students that do not have opportunities to study overseas. We do this by collaborating with universities, governmental agencies and industry to provide funding and scholarships opportunities. We also focus on bringing international students to university campuses in developing countries to help students experience internationalization and forge links internationally.
This is, and has always been at the core of what we do.

Noreen Lucey - Managing Director

Noreen has worked and lived abroad for much of her career and holds degrees in European Studies, Languages and International Relations. After beginning her International Education career in Central America, she moved from Nicaragua to live in China and spent two years developing a local network of agents and universities in China and East Asia.

Having worked in the International Offices of colleges and universities, Noreen saw the need to provide support to universities that needed to expand their network of university partners and agents globally but did not have the time or resources to do so.

Having lived overseas for much of her career in Europe, Australia, USA, Latin America and Asia, she used her local network to set up a group of global consultants who shared her vision of International Education.

Noreen and her team focus on partnership development and managing a university’s network and institutional links. She works mainly with universities to recruit international students and diversify their student population on campus.

However, her passion and that of the people she works with, is in sharing their international education experience with universities in emerging markets and internationalizing their campus. Their reason why is to bring internationalization to those students who do not have opportunities to study overseas.
